ATTENTION ALL DEADEYES, FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF 96th INFANTRY DIVISION SOLDIERS &ANYONE INTERESTED IN WWIl IN THE PACIFIC:

    Dedication of 96th Infantry Division Commemorative Plaque 11:00 AM March 31, 2012 in Fredicksburg, Texas at National Museum of the Pacific War Against Japan The Dedication of the 96th Infantry Division large commemorative Plaque which honors the entire WWII 96th Division will be held at the National lVIuseum of the Pacific War,. Fredricksburg, TX at 11 AM, March 31, 2012. The Dedication Program will honor the 96th Soldiers for their heroic efforts in fighting the Japanese on Leyte, Philippines and Okinawa, Japan in World War II. Appropriately, speakers will tell the story of the 96th, honor the men who were killed and wounded, and provide reminders of the Divisions actions to defeat Imperial Japan.

    The program will also Commemorate the 67th anniversary of the 96th Infantry Divisions landing on Okinawa, Japan on April 1, 1945.  The National Museum of the Pacific War is the only museum which is entirely devoted to the war in the Pacific a.gainst Japan. Its exhibits are very worth visiting.

EVENTS and PROCEDURES

 

Fredericksburg is about 65 miles west of Austin and north north west of San Antonio, Texas. The San Antonio airport is about 10 miles closer than the Austin airport.

The Dedication program will be held on the Courtyard of the Museum, If rain, at the Ballroom of the Nimitz Building on the corner of Main and Washington. The best way to enter is through the Courtyard gate. If facing the Nimitz building, this gate is on main to the left of the Nimitz building. Admission to the Dedication program is Free.

Many Of you will want to visit the excellent exhibits at the National Museum of the Pacific War. The regular cost to visit the exhibits is $12.00, with World War II Veterans and children 5 and under free. The Museum has set up a 96th Infantry Division Group with an entrance fee of $8.00. They want one person to purchase Tickets for group admission to the exhibits. I am that person. For discounted admission ticks, send a check for $8.00 for each person to be admitted to me.  (This excludes WWII veterans.) Send checks made out to me at:

I anticipate group entrance will start at 1:30 PM, leaving time for lunch after the Dedication ceremony. Admission tickets will be available from me before and after the ceremony.
